Sarah Fields Whitfield is from Linville, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications with a concentration in advertising and a minor in marketing from Appalachian State University in 2000.

Sarah grew up around real estate and began working in the real estate office of Grandfather Golf and Country Club (formerly Fields and Company Real Estate and Investments) and The Sterling Company while in high school. She became a real estate broker with The Sterling Company in 2004, and was a co-owner when Sterling was acquired by Premier Sotheby's International Realty in 2015. Sarah served as broker-in-charge for Diamond Creek Golf Club from 2008 to 2017, and currently serves as broker-in-charge for the Premier Sotheby's International Realty Banner Elk office. She has been a member of both the High Country Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® since 2004, and is a member of the local High Country MLS.

She enjoys spending time with her husband, Brian, and her daughter, Lucy Clay, as well as her friends. Sarah also enjoys spending time outdoors with her Jack Russell terrier (Willie), hiking, skiing, playing tennis and golf.
